Putting the wind to work

Vestas is a technology company whose journey started over a century ago, with a blacksmith workshop in Lem, Denmark. Today, the company is pioneering the energy industry as a global wind power partner with its innovative technologies and energy solutions.

During 2020, Vestas reduced global CO2 emissions by 186 million tons, which is equivalent to the annual electricity use of almost 34 million homes.

Vestas focuses on solving issues related to the high emissions of CO2 and GHG attributable to energy production by providing the world with wind turbines.Other alternative energy solutions include solar, hydroelectric and geothermal power, among others.

The wind power market has become highly competitive. What gives Vestas the upper hand is the fact that, as of December 31st, 2020, Vestas had over 132 GW of turbines installed onshore and off shore and over 113 GW under service. They can now definitely call themselves the world’s leading wind turbine manufacturer.

In late 2020, Vestas, together with OKQ8, in-vented a turbocharger that charges electric vehicle batteries using only wind power.

Vestas is currently in strategic partnerships with Formula E (Electric vehicles), Lenovo, SAP, Lego, and their customers are spread out across 83 countries.

Vestas, Windlab, and Eurus Energy developed a hybrid energy park consisting of wind power, solar power, and energy storage. The park lies in the northern part of Queensland, Australia.

With the Sustainability report, we want to recognise companies that not only have a great innovation or solution that has a significant impact on lowering CO2 emissions, but also have put in place measures to scale and commercialise.

The companies in the report have been thoroughly researched by the Megadeals team through interviews with highly ranked profiles within the organisations.

The key principle is that only when the great sustainability innovations scale and commercialise they can create a deep impact and the world a better place.

Why is this important? We simply don't have time to wait.
